What we do

A regulated ex situ platform for traceable venom lots.

Serpentarium Caribe is building the first regulated ex-situ venom production platform in the Colombian Caribbean. Every specimen is legally sourced and individually traceable; every lot ships with a Certificate of Analysis and full chain-of-custody documentation, designed to meet international standards including CITES and the Nagoya Protocol / ABS.

Species & Science

Two Caribbean species with documented bioactive profiles.

Bothrops asper specimen in controlled ex situ vivarium.

Bothrops asper

  • Colombian Caribbean coastal populations.
  • Proteomic profile distinct from the Central American populations most commonly used.
  • Rich source of disintegrins and SVMP-derived peptide families.
  • PLA2 diversity characterized in Calvete et al., 2010 & 2020.
Crotalus durissus cumanensis specimen in controlled ex situ vivarium, rattle visible.

Crotalus durissus cumanensis

  • Caribbean rattlesnake endemic to northern Colombia.
  • Distinct from Brazilian and Venezuelan populations.
  • Crotoxin complex and bradykinin-potentiating peptides documented in the literature.
  • Lot-level documentation planned for partner research and reference material.

Regulatory model

Compliance built before material transfer.

01

Environmental permitting

Colombian environmental permitting pathway underway with the relevant authority.

02

ABS / Nagoya

Biodiversity access and benefit-sharing documentation aligned with Colombia's ABS framework.

03

CITES traceability

Specimen-level traceability and chain of custody from collection through lyophilization.

04

Lot documentation

Lot-level Certificate of Analysis, including proteomic profile and activity documentation.

No material transfer will occur before Colombian environmental, biodiversity-access and export approvals are in place.

Who it's for
